All clients will be required to pay a non-refundable £99 fee when booking a session or package online, which will be applied towards your total charges. Further payments will be detailed in your terms and conditions. What is a remote photoshoot?

Remote photography came about during the recent pandemic as a solution that allowed professionals to remain visible when meeting in person was not possible due to restrictions at the time. It has since evolved into a convenient and unique way to have a professional photoshoot, regardless of location (yours or the photographer's). From seamless team photos for global companies with multiple offices to relaxed brand photoshoots for busy professionals or entrepreneurs who may be less confident in front of the camera, and so much more! I have been offering these popular sessions within my business (alongside in-person sessions) since 2020. Why not have your next photoshoot captured remotely? Once you do, you may never go back to traditional photoshoots.

Is a remote photoshoot secure?

Absolutely! This was the first thing I checked when considering this service. Yours (and my) security is of utmost importance.

To conduct a remote photoshoot, you will download a special remote photoshoot app from a secure link (or directly from the Apple Store/Google Play if you prefer).

To start a session, the software requires a unique passcode which is specific to your phone and all connections are fully encrypted to keep your data, as well as our equipment, secure from unauthorised access. This encryption includes the photos I capture, which are securely stored in password-protected folders within the platform backend and are only accessible (and password-protected/encrypted) by the photographer. At any time during a session, either party can choose to end the session with a simple click of a button. This also ends the connection, and to reconnect, the photographer and client would need to generate a new passcode. At no time during a session can the photographer access anything on your smartphone except the camera (to take photos) and the microphone (so we can talk and the photographer can direct you to capture the perfect photos). The photographer is not able to see anything on your phone except whatever the camera is pointing at.

Can a remote photoshoot be done anywhere in the world?

Absolutely! This is the best part of a remote shoot, as we can work together regardless of physical location. No longer are you limited to visiting a studio, finding a local photographer or flying your favourite photographer to your location. With something we all have (a smartphone) and access to the internet, we can conduct a professional photoshoot ANYWHERE you like (as long as there is an internet signal). The sky is the limit, and it is super convenient as it saves you precious time and money!

When will I receive my photos?

Once your session is held, we will schedule your review session (which is held online). We aim to have this session within 48 hours, when possible, so you can select the photos you would like us to retouch. Once you have made your photo selection, we get to work retouching them as required. Our standard retouching is 'less is best', which means we will make any colour or lighting adjustments required, remove any blemishes or small unwanted objects and crop as necessary. We are also happy to provide photos in colour or black and white finish. Typically, retouching takes 7-14 days, depending on the time of year and the number of images being retouched.  Generally, we aim for clients to have their finished digital files within 14-21 days from the photoshoot, but we will keep you up-to-date along the way and, when possible, deliver them ASAP so you can start using them. 

What if I don't like having my photo taken?

I get it. As someone who is not especially confident in front of a camera myself, I know that for many, the thought of having a professional photoshoot can cause anxiety or stress. This is why we take the time to get to know you before the photoshoot through our comprehensive pre-planning sessions. We have found that through this process, not only are we on the same page regarding the photo brief, but we also build a professional relationship, which helps those who may be less confident in front of a camera to feel more confident because we are no longer strangers.

Joanne is also experienced in offering ways to help you feel more confident on the day via mindfulness techniques, suggestions of additional services such as hair, makeup, colour and style consults, and even hiring venues to help you show up and get more impact from your photos.

Many of our more nervous clients have shared with us how much these planning sessions and tips have helped them feel more confident, get the most out of their session, and love their photos (sometimes for the first time!).

We want you to look your best and get the most out of your investment, so please don't hesitate to reach out with any concerns or questions so we can assist you.

Are photos captured remotely any good?

Because the cameras on smartphones these days are of such high quality, the photographs we can capture through careful staging, planning, and consideration of lighting, locations, and props rival those taken with a traditional camera. Try out a remote session today and experience the convenience for yourself, seeing the quality firsthand. You may never go back to a traditional session again!. 

Do I need any special equipment for a remote photoshoot?

No. All you need is a smartphone with a camera, access to the internet, some space in your phone memory so the camera will operate and if you have it, a tripod. Don't have a tripod? Not to worry. Many don't, so we can use everyday objects to prop up your phone, such as a coffee mug or shoe, or even by having a friend there to hold the phone for you (and cheer you on at the same time).

How long have you been in business?

Joanne Moorhouse Photography opened its virtual doors in early 2019, although Joanne had been working as a freelance photographer and designer before that. Joanne started offering remote services in 2020 as a solution to the worldwide pandemic, but it proved so popular due to its convenience that it has become a permanent offering. We started offering coaching services in 2024 and re-branded in November 2024 as Joanne Moorhouse Creative, as we now offer a full complement of visual communications services, not just photography..

Do you also offer in-person services?

While we work with clients worldwide mainly through our remote services, we recognise that sometimes you may prefer a traditional in-person session. We are also available by request for on-location work within North Yorkshire, England. Other areas may be considered (subject to additional travel costs) and can be discussed during your enquiry or onboarding call.

What other services do you offer?

In addition to photography, we also offer graphic design services, training on design platforms for those who wish to work independently, brand and marketing coaching and strategy, brand audits, social media and content creation, team building, and more.

If we cannot do it, we probably know someone perfect for the job, so please ask if there is something you need assistance with.

What is your guarantee policy?

Remote photoshoots come with a 100% reshoot guarantee in the event that technical issues unexpectedly arise on the day. It is your responsibility to check the signal at your chosen location before any remote session to ensure internet connectivity, as we are not responsible for any signal issues at your chosen location. We are always happy to offer a 5-10 minute remote tech check by request, so you can ensure it will work on the day and become familiar with how to connect. In-person photography sessions are non-refundable but can be rescheduled with sufficient notice or funds placed on the account for future services. See your terms for further information.

In-person mini-brand days and portrait days are non-refundable, and payment is due at the time of booking. This is because we must pay for the venue, stylist, and any other professionals in advance, and spaces are limited to allow you dedicated one-to-one time with your photographer. Please note that these special days require a minimum number of participants to go forward. Should we not receive enough bookings for a select date, you will be contacted and either rescheduled for a new date or have your investment refunded (minus any external costs we are unable to control).

All other services such as coaching and retainer programs (unless noted above) come with a 14-day cancellation guarantee that should you find the service is not right for you, let us know within the first 14 days and you will not owe us anything further and have access for the remainder of the month (excluding any costs already incurred or non-refundable external services already purchased such a venue hire, hair, etc. Please note that any bonuses will be delivered AFTER these 14 days.

What form of payment do you accept and what is your payment policy?

Our preferred payment method is via Wise (wire transfer), as this allows us to provide our services at the lowest possible price. With payments made this way, we can also accept payments in GBP, Euro, CAD or USD.

We can also accept BACS from our friends in the UK. (There are no additional fees for these types of payments when paid in full.)

Alternatively, we accept most credit cards in GBP through Square or Xe.com. We do offer payment plans for those who need them. If this is you, please let us know during your onboarding call.

A non-refundable deposit of £99 is required to get started. Once onboarding begins, you will be provided with a link when signing up, allowing you to make a secure first payment or pay your balance in full and receive any named bonuses included.

I saw you specialise in the veterinary/healthcare industries, do you work with other sectors?

Yes, we do! As an entrepreneur myself, I love helping any professional who shares a similar ethos. I have worked with various industries, including education, coaching, finance, travel, property, and more. During your free consultation, we will get to know each other and determine what you need assistance with, then recommend the right service to meet your requirements. Should we find that we are not the right service for you, we will let you know and (when possible) make an introduction to the person or company we feel is right for you. If you are not happy, we are not happy - so we always put your best interests at the forefront.

What is your cancellation policy?

Deposits are generally non-refundable once onboarding is complete, but we will happily refund your deposit if we mutually decide not to proceed during your initial call. After this, payments are considered non-refundable; however, they can be placed on account if we are notified within the specific time frame noted below.

Please note that any external service, such as travel expenses, venue hire, hair, makeup, or style consultations, is non-refundable from the date of purchase, as we are unable to claim it back from the external vendors. 

NOTICE PERIODS ARE AS FOLLOWS... (see terms for further details, which always take precedence over the following dates)

Remote sessions require 7 days' notice if you are unable to attend, to facilitate rebooking.

In-person sessions require at least 14 days' notice (for local sessions) or 30 days' notice for those further afield.

Mini Brand Days/Portrait Days require payment in full at the time of booking and are non-refundable due to limited space. However, with at least 7 days' notice, we will be happy to offer you a space at the next available session within 12 months (limited to one reschedule only on a space available basis)

Design and coaching services require 30 days' notice to end a month-to-month contract or within the first 14 days if you are not satisfied with the coaching program to break a contract (unless otherwise noted in your contract). 

*Obviously, we understand illness and accidents can happen. If you are unable to attend any session and your notice period has expired, please contact us to discuss. In this case, we will offer you a new date (if possible) or place your investment on account for future services within 12 months. Please note if you do not attend a session, you will only be eligible for a refund or exchange if you have notified us in advance (even if it is last minute) either in writing or verbally, which has been acknowledged by us. If in doubt, let us know, as it prevents unnecessary travel and/or delays, allows us to offer the time to someone else, and is respectful of our time. We, of course, will always do the same should we find we are unable to honour a session due to an emergency. Any refunds authorised depend on us recouping any external costs already incurred, and there may be a portion that is not refundable.

Are you available for special events, retreats, conferences, charity work?

We are. We can offer custom photography services for special events, retreats and conferences, as well as some coverage of the event. We love to support charities and are always happy to consider helping your charity when possible. This could be via event coverage, in-house photography for your website or marketing, holding special events in support of your charity and more. If this is of interest, please reach out for a confidential chat.

What are your office hours and how do we get in touch with you?

Joanne Moorhouse Creative office hours are Monday through Friday between the hours of 12:00 and 18:00 GMT.

We also operate a weekly evening studio on Mondays between 19:30 and 21:00 BST/GMT for those in other time zones.

If you need to reach us outside of these hours and your call cannot wait until we return to the office, please contact us on WhatsApp or via Messenger or by email. We will do our best to return your call as soon as possible
