Want to know how to feel more confident in front of the camera?
Want to know how to feel more confident in front of the camera?
One of the things I hear often is "Joanne, I don't usually like my photo taken!"
I get it!
Believe it or not, I am the same when it comes to having my photo taken.
It is such a crucial investment for entrepreneurs and businesses though, and one that should not be left to chance.
I strive to make each and every client feel comfortable in front of the camera by sitting down and getting to know them personally. I want to hear their interests, hobbies, dreams, goals, fears, things that make them feel self-conscious, etc.
Factoring in what I learn, along with offering relaxed sessions that are not rushed, but also respect both our time, where I travel to you in-person or via remote technologies (PS, this is easier for camera shy) help. Additionally, allowing you to rest as and when, have a few sips of water, listen to music in the background, etc. are just some of the ways I help relieve any anxieties on the day.
Here are a few ways you can also gain camera confidence...
• Practice: The more you practice being in front of the camera, the more comfortable you'll become. Consider taking selfies or practising posing in front of the mirror to get a feel for how you look in front of the camera, but don't forget to be yourself.
• Find your best angle: Experiment with different angles and poses to find the ones that are most flattering for you. I can help by gently suggesting poses as we progress through your photoshoot.
• Relax: Take deep breaths and try to relax your muscles. Aromatherapy can help by calming your mind. It can also help to focus on something other than the camera, such as a point on the wall or floor.
• Use positive self-talk: Remind yourself that you are worthy and capable of taking great photos, and beautiful as you are! People want to know the real you.
• Work with a photographer you trust: Choose a photographer who cares about you (not just the job). One that you feel comfortable with, and who can guide you through the photoshoot process in a relaxed and no-pressure experience.
• Have fun: Remember that taking photos should be enjoyable, not stressful. Play music in the background, laugh, be yourself and have fun. Most importantly, let your personality shine through.
Overall, the key to feeling comfortable in front of the camera is to practice, find your best angle, relax and use positive self-talk, work with a photographer you trust, AND HAVE FUN!
I hope this helps. If you still find you have concerns, please reach out. My job is to help you not only get the perfect photos for you but also to help you enjoy the experience and embrace having your photos taken.
